The evolution of a partnership: shaping Leroy Merlin’s largest store in Spain
The relationship between HMY and Leroy Merlin has been built over many years of collaboration, jointly developing projects driven by retail innovation. However, this partnership has reached a new milestone with the opening of Leroy Merlin La Laguna, the company’s largest store in Spain. An emblematic project not only because of its scale, but also because of the ambition behind its concept, where customer experience and inspiration, technology and sustainability come together to create a new benchmark for the brand.
Enhancing the customer experience was one of the main objectives of this project, with the aim of creating a more immersive, interactive and inspiring customer journey. Beyond product display, every area has been designed to facilitate purchasing decisions and deliver greater value to customers.
Through its Consulting & Design division, HMY supported Leroy Merlin in developing key areas such as the ceramics showroom and the sustainability podium, transforming the strategic objectives of each space into solutions that combine design, functionality and experience.

The development of the store fixtures was another key element of the project, driven by our engineering team’s deep understanding of the project’s strategic objectives. Building on our standard system, we introduced new adaptations to meet Leroy Merlin’s operational requirements. These improvements have enabled stock capacity optimization, streamlined replenishment processes and easier inventory management, resulting in more efficient solutions for both daily operations and the in-store experience.
The scale of the project also required significant logistical and industrial capabilities. To equip the 14,000 m² sales area of Leroy Merlin La Laguna, HMY coordinated the delivery of 50 containers of materials, ensuring deadlines were met and guaranteeing an efficient implementation of all project elements.

Sustainability has been another strategic pillar of Leroy Merlin La Laguna. Throughout the store, communication elements have been implemented to highlight the most sustainable solutions available to customers, while a dedicated energy-efficiency podium has been created to reinforce the company’s commitment to more responsible consumption.
Beyond new store openings such as La Laguna, HMY and Leroy Merlin also collaborate on store refurbishments, reusing fixtures from other company locations and avoiding the consumption of new resources. Over the last year, this initiative has enabled the reuse of 68 tonnes of materials and prevented the emission of 152 tonnes of CO₂e, equivalent to almost one million kilometres driven by a petrol-powered car.
